FORNAX 2 - Special thermographic software
FORNAX is a special thermographic software for analysing and evaluating building physics in thermographic images of building structures. It is an essential tool for experts and energy advisors to visualise and analyse constructional and physical relationships. Its basic characteristics includes:
- Surface condensation risk simulation according to EU DIN 4108 standard within the wellbeing range of EU DIN 1946 standard
- Efficient evaluation of thermographic images with editable annotation database
- Climate database for selected European countries
- Comprehensive building material database
Basic programme functions
FORNAX is able to read data formats from both thermographic systems VARIOSCAN hr 30XX and VarioCAM ® hr. The multi-window function enables the processing of several thermographic images at the same time.
Display functions:
- Temperature scale flash-in to allocate temperature to underlying colours
- Display of optimised printer and screen colour scales
- Free and subsequent temperature display range selection
- Ability to change temperature units (degrees Celsius, degrees Fahrenheit, Kelvin)
- Thermal image display optimisation
- Enlargement, rectification and scaling of thermographic images
- Horizontal and vertical temperature profile display

Analysis and evaluation functions
Within a thermographic image, thermal construction faults can simply be marked and commented using the underlying annotation database. Additional analysis functions include:
- Efficient documentation and commentary through individually expandable modular reporting system
- Surface condensation and mould risk simulation according to EU DIN 4108 standard within the wellbeing range according to EU DIN 1943 standard on interior walls
- Heat flow calculations and statistics
- Theoretical calculation of u factors according to EU DIN 4108 standard
- Energy consumption cost calculation
- Identification of seasonal interior surface condensation risks using the wall structure (use of building material database)
Further programme functions
The FORNAX software enables the holistic display of thermographic images. An "area thermometer" provides information about minimal and maximal temperatures of a selected, monitored area (rectangular, circular) or the complete area. Also, temperature frequency can be displayed in a histogram. Temperature fields give information about prevalent temperatures by using horizontal or vertical lines in a matrix.
